Braces and Orthodontic Care

Braces and orthodontic care is about more than just cosmetics and a straight smile. Improper alignment can cause jaw pain and chewing dysfunction. Overcrowded teeth can be more susceptible to decay and the surrounding gums are more likely to develop periodontal disease.

How Orthodontic Treatment Works

Gone are the days of bulky braces. Choose from thin, clear brackets or skip them altogether and straighten your smile with invisible aligners. Both options provide a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, slowly moving teeth to the proper position.

Because, everyone ought to have a mouth that works for them, not against them.

Braces & Invisalign® in Pearl, MS

At Brister Orthodontics, we provide expert orthodontic care that goes beyond a straight smile. Misaligned or crowded teeth can lead to jaw pain, tooth decay, and gum disease. Whether you’re interested in traditional braces, clear braces, self-ligating or lingual options, or Invisalign®, we’ll help you find the right solution for your smile and comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should my child first see an orthodontist?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Even if treatment isn’t needed yet, an early visit lets our orthodontist spot bite or alignment issues while the jaw is still developing. Adults can begin orthodontic treatment at any age.
How long does orthodontic treatment usually take?
Most orthodontic treatments take 12 to 24 months. Mild crowding or spacing can sometimes be corrected in 6 months, while more complex bite corrections may take 24-30 months. We’ll give you a realistic timeline at your free consultation.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost in Pearl area?
In Pearl area, orthodontic treatment typically ranges from $3,000 to $8,000 depending on whether you choose braces or clear aligners, the length of treatment, and the complexity of your case. We provide an all-inclusive quote at your free consultation, with 0% interest monthly payment plans available.
Do you accept insurance and offer payment plans?
Yes. We accept most major dental insurance plans with orthodontic coverage and offer in-house, interest-free monthly payment plans. HSA and FSA payments are also accepted.
What's the difference between an orthodontist and a regular dentist?
An orthodontist is a dental specialist who completed 2-3 additional years of training after dental school, focused specifically on tooth movement, jaw alignment, and bite correction. A general dentist focuses on overall oral health; an orthodontist focuses exclusively on straightening teeth and correcting bites.
Will orthodontic treatment hurt?
Most patients feel only mild soreness for a few days after braces are placed, after each adjustment, or when switching to a new aligner. Over-the-counter pain relief and soft foods are usually enough to stay comfortable.
How often will I need to come in for appointments?
Most patients in active treatment visit Pearl office every 4 to 8 weeks for a short check-up. Clear aligner patients typically have longer intervals between visits than traditional braces patients.
